History
Established (2022): In Pakistan, Layyah is one of the areas which are rich in human capital and have the highest literacy rate among the districts of the Southern Punjab. To shape up this potential, sub-campus of Bahauddin Zakariya University was established in 2009 at Layyah by the Govt. of the Punjab. Recently, the Govt. of the Punjab through its Provincial Assembly passed the Act of The University of Layyah in 2022 by updating Sub-Campus of Bahauddin Zakariya University Multan to an independent university in the name of the University of Layyah. Now, the University of Layyah is functioning independently under the patronage of the Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Hakoomat Ali. Currently, the University of Layyah has an area of 12 acres of land at City Campus and 130 acres at Main Campus. It has 2 Colleges i.e. College of Agriculture and College of Veterinary Sciences and 6 departments with overall strength of 1700 students. The University has latest facilities for students in terms of faculty, labs, transport, library, cafeteria, sports ground and auditorium etc. The university has two academic blocks, two administration blocks, one guest house and one hostel for male & one for female students. At present, New academic blocks, VC office, VC house, hostels and Jamia Masjid are under construction. The purchase of new buses for students is also under process. Simultaneously, the establishment of new departments and laboratories are under way. We are setting up 08 new faculties and 40 new departments in new academic year, 2023. We are also on way forward to recruit the competent and qualified faculty very soon.
