The Bachelor of Science in Sociology is structured in accordance with the HEC Undergraduate Education Policy V 1.1. The program comprises a minimum of 131 credit hours, including supervised internship and capstone project, distributed across eight regular semesters.

Universities may offer courses up to a maximum of 144 credit hours, provided that the total credit hours are reasonably structured to achieve the Program Learning Objectives (PLOs) without imposing an undue academic burden on students.

Program Duration: Minimum four years (eight regular semesters) and maximum six years (twelve regular semesters), subject to applicable HEC semester rules.

Semester Duration: Regular semesters comprise 16–18 weeks, including 1–2 weeks for examinations. Summer semesters comprise 8–9 weeks, including one week for examinations.

Course Load: Students normally undertake 15–18 credit hours per regular semester and up to 8 credit hours during summer semesters, primarily for remedial, deficiency, failure, or repetition courses.

A three-credit-hour theory course may be delivered through three one-hour classes, two 1.5-hour classes, or one three-hour class per week throughout the semester. One credit hour of laboratory or fieldwork requires three hours of practical or field contact per week.
