The Faculty of Computing & Engineering at the University of Layyah, established in 2024, is dedicated to excellence in computing, engineering, and emerging technologies. The Faculty aims to produce skilled professionals equipped with strong theoretical foundations, practical expertise, and innovative thinking to meet the challenges of the modern digital and engineering-driven world.

Through industry-relevant curricula, modern infrastructure, and qualified faculty, the Faculty emphasizes hands-on learning, research, and professional development. All academic programs are aligned with HEC and NCEAC/PEC guidelines, ensuring quality education and global competitiveness.


Departments under the Faculty

Department of Computer Science

The Department of Computer Science offers a comprehensive 4-year BS in Computer Science (BSCS) program, officially launched on September 18, 2023. The program provides a strong foundation in core computing principles while integrating Artificial Intelligence as a key specialization area.

  • Computer Networks

  • Cybersecurity

  • Database Systems

  • Computer Graphics

  • Human–Computer Interaction (HCI)

The Department is supported by fully equipped computer laboratories, modern seminar halls, high-speed internet, and dedicated computing resources, enabling project-based learning and research-oriented education.

Department of Information Technology

The Department of Information Technology offers a 4-year BS in Information Technology (BSIT) program, launched on September 18, 2023. The program focuses on applied computing, system management, and emerging data-driven technologies, including Data Science.

Core focus areas include:

  • Software and Web Application Development

  • Network Administration

  • Cybersecurity

  • IT Infrastructure and Cloud Systems

  • Data Science and Data Analytics

The Department prepares graduates for practical roles in IT services, enterprise systems, and data-centric environments.

Admission Eligibility:
F.Sc. (Pre-Engineering / ICS) or equivalent with minimum 50% marks, as per HEC policy.

  • BS Information Technology (BSIT)

  • BS Data Science (BSDS)

Department of Computer Engineering

The Department of Computer Engineering bridges the gap between hardware and software systems, preparing students to design, develop, and maintain modern computing and embedded systems.

The program emphasizes:

  • Computer Hardware and Architecture

  • Microprocessors and Controllers

  • Software–Hardware Integration
