Dr. Muhammad Asghar serves as Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics and Business Administration. He holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Economics from the School of Economics, Bahauddin Zakariya University, Multan. Prior to his current appointment, Dr. Asghar has held academic and research positions at Ghazi University Dera Ghazi Khan, The Islamia University of Bahawalpur, and the Punjab Economic Research Institute (PERI), Planning and Development Board, Government of the Punjab — reflecting a broad engagement across both higher education and public policy research. Dr. Asghar has made significant contributions to graduate education, having supervised more than ten scholars at the M.Phil. level. His research has been disseminated through internationally peer-reviewed journals of high repute, including Sustainable Development, Land Use Policy, Journal of Cleaner Production, Journal of Environmental Management, and Gondwana Research — publications widely indexed and recognised for their scholarly rigour within the disciplines of economics, environmental science, and sustainable development. Dr. Asghar's scholarly contributions span the intersecting domains of environmental economics, sustainable development, and energy transition. His research interrogates the complex nexus between economic growth, international trade, technological innovation, energy consumption, ecological sustainability, and other macroeconomic variables — with a particular focus on developing and emerging economies. He has further extended his inquiry into areas of applied economics and sustainability. Methodologically, his work draws on advanced econometric frameworks to inform evidence-based policy discourse at both national and international levels.
